David and Denise Agron

Africa, south of the Saharah, is primarily Christian. But the African Church is sometimes described as being like a river a mile wide and an inch deep. Discipleship and leadership training are key needs. When I read that Africa is winning 15,000 Christians per day, I began to wonder whether there might be some way God would have me serve.

I am preparing to spend about a month on a mission trip. For two weeks, I will be teaching a course for untrained pastors in Kenya. Most pastors in the Two-Thirds world have no training.

In the second half of the trip, I will be exploring what future contributions I might make. I will visit theological schools, less formal training programs, and places involved with training and sending Africans as missionaries. Since I make my living mentoring administrators of small Christian colleges, might my experience be useful? Might I use tools I developed in my Ph.D. to better contextualize Western curricula that is sometimes used in Africa? Or might I somehow be useful facilitating Africans as missionaries? More missionaries now come from the Two-Thirds world than from the West.

I would so much appreciate your prayers as I teach and as I look for guidance in these matters.
