Matthias serves as part of an AIM Inbound team in Torit, South Sudan which began in July 2022.
Matthias has been a follower of Jesus for just over seven years. After High School he went to an international Bible School in Australia, where for the first time he had a glimpse of a multicultural environment. He then studied Mechanical Engineering while building up a small business in photography and videography.
2020 was a challenging and painful year for Matthias due to the Covid-19 pandemic and personal circumstances, but it was also the year he grew the most personally and spiritually. He noticed three things about himself: He is still single, he loves English, and God has blessed his photography and videography.
He took these things to heart and began the journey to become a missionary photographer. This path led him to AIM.Matthias is deeply passionate about helping to spread the good news of Jesus Christ with the gifts that God has given him and would love for you to partner with him in his journey in Africa.
The Inbound program supports new missionaries as they begin ministry by providing orientation into missions work with AIM through mentorship and practical training. The Inbound team trains members in ministry, language-learning skills, building relationships with churches, and team unity, among other core AIM values. Team members then move on to permanent ministries within AIM.
Matthias is hoping to serve with AIM Stories after his time on the Inbound team. AIM Stories is a team of storytellers, sharing the story of God's work in Africa. They visit different AIM missionaries, capture their ministry, and spread news of the miracles, joy and hope of their ministry. Their goal is to share to the local church around the globe what God has been doing; to inspire those who give and pray to missionaries; and to motivate people to take part in cross-cultural mission worldwide.
